Patterson – Wind Uplift concepts and Case Study\nMr. Patterson is a licensed engineer and register roof consultant with more than 40 years experience in all phase of the roofing industry, including manufacturing, contracting, design, inspection, and testing of roofs and roof structures. He has lectured extensively on roofing and has written several authoritative publications on roofing including Wind Uplift Pressure on Low-Sloped Roofs and Drainage Design monographs published by the Roof Consultants Institute and Roof Design and Practice published by Prentice Hall. Mr. Patterson founded Roof Technical Services, Inc. in 1983, and Roof Technical Services, Inc. provides design, inspection, testing, and forensic work nationwide for a variety of clients.\n\nDerek A. Hodgin – Dealing with the Challenges of Mid-Rise Wood Framed Construction\nDerek holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. Mr. Hodgin has over twenty-five (25) years of experience as an engineering consultant and is responsible for facility condition inspections, failure analysis, damage assessments, and forensic engineering investigations of all types of structures. Mr. Hodgin is licensed as a Professional Engineer in twenty-three (23) states, registered as a Roof Observer, Roof Consultant, Waterproofing Consultant, Exterior Wall Consultant and Building Envelope Consultant with the Roof Consultants Institute and certified as a Construction Document Technologist and Construction Contract Administrator with the Construction Specifications Institute. Mr. Hodgin’s experience includes failure analysis of a wide variety of building envelope and roof systems. A large part of Mr. Hodgin’s projects have included analysis of deficient construction cases including roofs, exterior walls, windows, doors, structural framing, civil site work and building code review. Mr. Hodgin has performed engineering assessments of hurricane, flood, tornado, hail, wind, ice and fire-related damages for a wide variety of commercial and residential structures in the United States and Caribbean.\n\nRussell Raymond – Metal Flashings and how they affect the Building Envelope\nRuss has over thirty years of experience in the sheet metal contracting and building envelope consulting industries. He started his career in an architectural sheet metal contracting company in Louisville, Kentucky and is a third generation sheet metal tradesman. He is currently senior building enclosure consultant in Houston, Texas. He has designed and specified roofing and sheet metal systems for major petro/chemical clients, museums, sports venues, and hospital systems, as well as a number of historic restoration projects. He has also assessed and performed quality assurance observations on numerous projects along the Gulf Coast, throughout the United States, as well as a number of international projects. Mr. Raymond has also performed numerous investigations pertaining to sheet metal, roofing and waterproofing, as well as cladding and glazing-related failures. He is a Registered Building Envelope Consultant, Registered Roof Observer, Certified EIFS Inspector, a Certified Tile Roofing Installer, Certified Level 1 Infrared Thermographer, and a Construction Documents Technologist. In addition, Russ was the 2014 winner of the Michael DeFrancesco RCI Volunteer of the Year Award.\n\nDavid Leslie, RWC – Waterproofing Hands-on Demo\nDAVID LESLIE’s experience includes product development, contracting, and consulting. His 30 years of experience have provided him with a unique insight into numerous aspects of the building enclosure. He is a published author, public speaker, expert witness, and holder of multiple patent applications. Leslie is an active member of IIBEC, a Registered Waterproofing Consultant, an ABAA Licensed Field Auditor, and a member of SWRI.
